Month: January 2013

Six Month Anniversary Date Day

Our six month anniversary is on Tuesday, so we decided to celebrate on Saturday. We began our day by checking out another breakfast place (Village Inn) (we recommend it) (it’s like a nicer Denny’s), then did some shopping. We decided to enjoy the nice weather at one of our favorite parks (Phelps Grove Park), then ate at the best Italian place in town (Nonna’s). We planned to see a movie, but there wasn’t anything we wanted to see that was playing at a convenient time, so we headed back home for a relaxing night of crocheting and watching Psych. A Saturday well spent.

Want. Need. Wear. Read.

Today I thought I would share with you something I want, something I need, something to wear, and something to read.

Pitch Perfect

Have you seen Pitch Perfect? Seriously hilarious. I’ve been dying to watch it again since we watched it at The Palace.

Nike Sportband

Okay so maybe this is more of a want, but it would really come in handy. I used to wear a watch everyday until it broke over a year ago and I’ve yet to find one that I like since then. I’ve had my eye on this Nike Sportband, but it’s a little pricey so I haven’t given in and gotten it yet!

Paper Crown

Lauren Conrad‘s Paper Crown recently released its Spring 2013 Lookbook. I always love Lauren’s pretty outfits. I especially loved this dress. I would love to wear it this summer.

Anne of Green Gables

Okay so I’ve technically been listening to the Anne of Green Gables series. I’m currently finishing up the second book, Anne of Avonlea. I’ve found that I would rather read a series than an individual book. I’m excited to get to the third book! (Yes, I listen to audiobooks. I started listening to books instead of music while I exercise about a year ago. I would definitely recommend it! I look forward to running more because I have a good book to look forward too!)

So what are you wanting, needing, wearing, and reading??

Rainy Saturday

The holidays are officially behind us and Brad and I are settling back into our regular routine. After a month and a half of holiday festivities, we looked at each other this weekend and said, now what?

So we searched our brains for things to do without spending any money other than staying at home and watching Netflix (we’re currently hooked on Psych). Brad has a pretty nice camera and we always talk about how we need to take more pictures with it instead of documenting our entire lives through our iPhones. We decided to venture into Springfield to take some pics. Unfortunately, it was a lot colder and rainier than we were anticipating, so our adventure was more short-lived than we were hoping for.

Here are some of my favorites we captured.

One Year of Blogging

Last New Years Day I began this blog. I had recently gotten into blogging and thought I would try my hand at it myself. I’m a scientist, so I like numbers and statistics. Here are some stats:

This blog began with a simple intention. I wanted to try my hand at writing and have a place to share the crafts I created. As most things in life, how I used this blog turned out differently than I originally expected.

I got engaged in the spring, so this became a place that I posted about a girls favorite topics: wedding planning, the honeymoon, and our new life in Springfield. Since it’s birth, my blog has almost turned into more of a life-journal or online scrapbook. This has become the place where I’ve put my thoughts and shared my experiences for the past year. I’ve enjoyed blogging so much more than I expected, and I’m excited to continue in 2013.

For those of you who are more observant, you may have noticed that I recently changed the name of my blog! (I’m also looking for a new layout.) This year was sort of a trial-run for whether blogging was something I wanted to continue doing over time. I’ve decided that it is, so I intend to make it a little more legit-looking.

I’d encourage you to try blogging if you’ve been considering it. You never know if you’ll enjoy something until you try it!

Thanks for following along in 2012. Here’s to a new year!

Mile a Day Complete

Brad and I took the Mile A Day Challenge this month. If you didn’t see my previous post, this means that we committed to running at least one mile everyday in December!

I’m sad to admit that we didn’t get out there everyday this month, but the days we missed were when we were traveling for the holidays.

And I did run all 31 miles for each day of December!

We missed 3 days in a row around Christmas and I gained 3 pounds in those 3 days….

It was really difficult to make it out there some days, but I’m glad I did it!

I am planning on doing it again this year during a month when it isn’t freezing outside and we won’t have holidays in which we’ll be traveling.

I’ve always been amazed (and discouraged) by how quickly your body can get out of shape, but this month I was encouraged to find how fast I was able to get into shape! At the beginning of the month I could run a mile easily, but making it to two would have been pretty difficult. After just two weeks I was able to run a 5K easily.

I’m hoping that this challenge in December set me up for being more consistent in my workouts in 2012! I’d encourage you to take the challenge as well.
